"Salute to Television" by Kukla, Fran & Ollie
December 4, 1949

Curator's note: In this marvelous KFO episode that aired less than a year after the show took to the network (it had run locally since October 13, 1947), the Kuklapolitans celebrate the wonders of the medium of television. If you don't understand the technology of the medium, Oliver J. Dragon will explain it to you. Note the commercial for the RCA 45 rpm phonograph: RCA had introduced this 7" competitor to Columbia's 33 1/3 long-playing records the previous March, and was now making a pitch aimed at Chrismas shoppers. Gregg Donovan announces this broadcast which originated in NBC's Merchandise Mart studios. Follow this link to more Kukla, Fran & Ollie stuff.
