Right: The curator of these pages on 30 December, 1997, standing in front of the Roman cafe known as Tazza d'oro. Located at via degli Orfani 84 (within sight of the Pantheon), Tazza d'oro, in the judgement of many, serves the world's best coffee.

The curator had made a 180 mile journey from Florence for the sole purpose of drinking a single cup of Tazza d'oro coffee.

Was it worth the trip? Of course...He made the same journey in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 2003, 2004, 2005,2006 and 2007.

He enjoyed his first cup of coffee at Tazza d'oro in September 1967. He immediately concluded it was the best he had consumed.
For years he ranted of the virtues of Tazza d'oro to all who would listen. Most considered him a crackpot.
He has been somewhat vindicated by an article that appeared several years ago in the sunday New York Times travel section, and by a piece that Michael Specter wrote for the October 19, 1998 issue of The New Yorker magazine.

How Can I get to Tazza d'oro? Take either the 70, 81, 90, 90b, 186 or 482 bus. Tazza d'oro is open from 7 am to 8 pm. Tazza d'oro is closed on Sundays.
