Val Press...

A Video Recollection

Left: The late Floyd Kalber and Val Press in the old Channel 5 newsroom (actually located in what had become the "radio side" of the 19th floor of the Merchandise Mart. The photo probably dates from the late 1960's.

About this video: This five-and-a-half minute video segment was prepared for Val's induction into the Silver Circle of the Chicago chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in June of 2002.

The Curator and Danice Kern taped the interview on a blustery Saturday the preceding March in Val's Hyde Park apartment.

All you need to know by way of introduction is that Val's two great loves were Channel 5...and Paris.
