Thanks to the
clout of the American Federation of Musicians---and especially its powerful Chicago-based
Local 10---NBC was obliged to mantain a substantial quota of staff musicans long
after there was any real need for live performers.
These folks could could play, at sight, almost anything you could hand them. The
wondrous talents of studio musicians have largely been forgotten in this age when
most of the music we hear is produced digitally. |
