Curator's
note: Few "Amos 'n' Andy" espisodes have survived from the
years Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll worked in Chicago. The 1929 episodes
below are from the period Gosden and Correll syndicated the broadcast. They are
dubbed from 12" the 78rpm disks that the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company
recorded, pressed and distributed to subscribing stations. The 1933 fragment is
an air-check. By this time NBC carried "Amos 'n' Andy". The broadcast
originated in studio F, with
Glen Webster most likely
at the controls. (Visit the website of Elizabeth
McLeod for much, much more on "Amos 'n' Andy"). You will need RealPlayer
to listen to these clips. |
